Social Development during Infancy

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Infant’s social development is initially influenced by their reflexive behavior, such as the grasp, and eventually depends primarily of the interaction between them and the principal caregivers.

ATTACHMENT

The importance of human physical contact to infants can not be overemphasized. Parenting is not an instinctual ability but a learned, acquired process. The attachment of parent and child, which often begins before birth and assumes even more importance at birth, continues during the first year.
